Bringing down the house

House of Holland AW11 was a fun, flirty and surprisingly sexy collection that was comprised of references synonymous with the beloved Gran; bingo, crochet and budgerigars. The Henry Holland humour extended to tees with ‘Hawt Couture’ emblazoned across the front and were teamed with pink full skirts and matching jackets. Harris tweeds in sherbet colours were especially made for the designer in Scotland and were tailored into beautiful strappy dresses and motorcycle jacket and bike shorts.

I had the absolute pleasure of attending this show, and it’s a show that I believe will be a turning point for Henry’s career and regard as a serious fashion designer. For awhile now, who’s who on Henry’s front row has outshone his collections and  this season, there has been a collective shift with more of a focus on his collection than the celebrity faces sat up front. Critics have been silenced and there is a quality to his work like never before.

At present Henry is working on a sunglasses range that will be showcased in September. Watch this space…
