In time to the beet

•August 1, 2011 • Leave a Comment

I have recently began growing beetroots. I’ll be honest, I don’t have a clue what I am doing. I have never grown anything before. I don’t even cook. However, beetroots are a favourite of mine and when Mr Keir brought home a one pound grow-your-own special from the pound shop, how could I resist? It has taken about 14 days for them to grow this long and I have had to pull a few out because they were looking a little worse for wear. Below are those that are growing quite strong, although they will need repotting soon. But for the time being let’s admire their amazing fluro-burgundy colour.  They are very in tune with the jewel tone trend for  A/W11 and shall hopefully be a little more fully grown in time for the Autumn season. If they aren’t dead.

Words for Amy Winehouse

You don’t need me to repeat the tragic story that occurred yesterday. Here are a selection of my favourite Amy images. The second from bottom image is of the Brazilian Victoria’s Secret Angel and model Adriana Lima who paid homage to the singer in LOVE magazine.

ASOS houndstooth skirt

This slinky, little skirt from ASOS is the only houndstooth print piece I have ever liked or been convinced by. Priced at £55.00 I’ll be popping this on my must-have list ready for payday!

Danny in winter

Yes, this is a rather large image of Mr Daniel Keir. The weather outside (it’s rainy as hell,) has prompted me to look through last winters photos and pull some out that are at least cosy in their atmosphere and remind me that winter doesn’t have to be too bad.

If I am correct, Danny is drinking an americano (no sugar, cold milk) and wearing a lovely, grey knitted Topman jumper. We are in a lovely cafe on Chatsworth Road in Homerton, a very up and coming area that has a weekly street market.

I like the frosting on the window and the starry lights, this photo was taken in an early afternoon, not as it seems, late at night.

Christopher Kane Resort Collection 2012: Brighter than your average

•July 6, 2011 • Leave a Comment

This post is going to begin with a clichè start, because even though the following sentences have been used a million times, I see them as being completely fit and apt’ for Christopher Kane’s Resort 2012 collection.

Christopher Kane never, ever fails to disappoint me, and OMG his newest collection to date is certainly a winner.

There. Over and done with.

The bright, rainbow hues contrasted against the black remind me of Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark side of the Moon’ album cover.

Whilst the silver touches and striped jumper have a ’70s science fiction feel and a ‘Mork and Mindy’ presence, (remember that programme? Robin Williams played Mork an alien, it was on back in the late ’70s to early ’80s,) see the reverted triangle on Mork’s jumpsuit and his multicoloured braces.

Not entirely sure this was Kane’s vibe when he was designing the collection, but he was influenced by prisms and other sciencey stuff. And this wasn’t the entirety of the collection. There were lace jumpsuits and metallic, cupcake pleated skirts as well as a black Mod trouser suit and lovely laser-cut floral dresses. Behold…
